While procrastinating regarding grading, I hopped onto Craigslist and saw that a local individual was selling two young adult, captive-bred pinktoe tarantulas for $10. Not that we need more spiders, but this is a docile species that can go into the classroom. It is arboreal, unlike the terrestrials I already have. Another inexpensive learning opportunity!
A few hours later I was at Farm & Fleet, picking up a young vinegaroon and the two pinktoes. As expected, these tarantulas are quick and agile. They require higher humidity than the others, so that’ll be something new to work out. Both ate shortly after their arrival. More to come later. I have to go back to grading…
