The flowering daylilies are attracting large numbers of pollinators including an array of beetles and signal flies.
The signal fly species (Rivellia sp.) found in greatest abundance right now in east central Illinois is sexually dimorphic.
Note the more elongate body of the male (top individual) relative to the stockier, more rotund female (bottom individual).
